None of our furniture is varnished, waxed or painted with anything that destroys the integrity of the natural wood.
We only use open pore treatments such as oil, soap and tempera that allow the wood to continue to live and breath.
These treatments also allow the wood to move with the climate and age with dignity. In a lot of cases
there is no need for any surface treatment at all - but choosing a suitable treatment is equally
a matter of taste and will depend on the character that you are trying achieve.

When choosing a paint we focused on tempera - a beautiful and ecological paint which is very pure.
Tempera means "to mix" and egg, linseed oil, water and earth pigments are mixed to produce fantastic shades
that all have different drying, wearing and reflection characteristics. This paint has no thinners or dangerous preservatives.
This means that the treatment process is somewhat different from when using normal paints and therefore all
painting is done by specialists and each piece is allowed to dry outside, with help from the sun and wind, for up
to 2 weeks before they are transported. Tempera that has been applied for some time is almost indestructible, but new pieces
are sensitive to knocks and scrapes. Normal wear and tear just makes the furniture look even more beautiful!
