Classical Contemporary >>

This picture is a panorama of an interior at
the
Norrgavel factory outlet in Lammhult, Sweden. It shows, without being
explicit just how fantastically adaptable our furniture is. From this
image (and clicking on it will bring up a larger view) you can pick up some
styling ques and also see how the new Norrgavel pieces like the
Sofa,
Bord Bas and
Magazine table mix with modern classics like Yngwe Ekstroms Lamino
chair. The background "canvas" is also very classical with large
windows and plain wooden floors.

The image on the right shows a more classical
interior using new pieces from the
G.A.D range. The basic idea is the same with the same type of "canvas" -
but here it is the quality of the materials and the finish of the furniture
which really brings out the "contemporary" elements. Another obvious
clue that this is not an image from the 18th Century is the lack of
"clutter" and the choice and positioning of the details. (and perhaps
also the Stelton storm lamp...)

Again, this image shows the juxtaposition of
very classically formed armchair with contemporary proportions and modern
fabrics with a ultra modern wood and glass occasional table. The
concrete planter just adds to the classical contemporary look!

Again Norrgavel show here a classical setting
with
semi-circular occasional table with flowers, lamp with
mirror above - how many times haven't you seen that in country houses
and castles around europe? Here it is beautifully executed in a living
room - lovingly framed by the modern console shelving. The
Nirvan chair and
pillar table in the foreground are also very contemporary pieces that
retain their classical heritage.
We believe that furniture from both G.A.D and
Norrgavel fit equally well in both classical and contemporary settings -
however we also feel that they carve out their own niche - the indefinable
"classical contemporary" that we at
Nordic Interiors
just feel is more beautiful, more functional and more appealing than the
true classical style or indeed ultra-modern minimalism.
Long live
natural materials and honest craftsmanship coupled with a design, that
whilst steeped in tradition and classic proportions, adds a modern and
altogether more pleasing and less fussy look and feel!
