Bo Concept is perhaps the closest competitor to Ikea (although don't tell them I said that!). With a global presence and a thoroughly Scandinavian feel, this Danish company provides excellent value for money if you like contemporary design and materials.

Horning Parket is one of the best manufacturer of scandinavian style wood floor. They produce both short and long block parket as well as traditional plank style flooring.  Horning products are sold in the UK through The Rainleaf Flooring Company based in Colchester.

Ingvar Kamprad, IKEA's founder was recently acknowledged as being the worlds richest person - need I say more about how succesful IKEA is?  Despite their reputation IKEA still produce some stylish pieces that work in any interior.  One might have an issue with the "target price" mentality (which affects the quality) but it can be surprisingly good if you know what to look for!

itre Furniture is based in Dorset but has a small gallery in Pimlico where their fabulous high-quality, solid wood furniture is displayed. I spotted the gallery one Sunday and was immediately drawn to the simple but striking designs.  If you are looking for something special - then do give them a visit!

Scandinavian Room is the UK agent for Swedish furniture manufacturer Fogia. Scandinavian Room was established in 2002.  Fogia operates two furniture factories one for wooden and one for upholstered furniture.  Scandinavian Room has agreements with numerous showrooms.
